I have known Islam for 10 years when he joined my lab in Fall of 2010 in the program in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutic, College of Pharmacy, University of Georgia As a teacher and a major advisor I got the chance to interact more with Islam Mohammed in several courses and I got to know him very well as an active, attentive and creative minded student in the class who finished all required course work with straight A. Islam is an avid reader who likes to comb literature and utilized his interest in obesity to develop his PhD project and completed his thesis with impressive list of publications (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=islam+Mohamed%2C+el-remessy). Further, Islam’s work was supported by the prestigious predoctoral fellowship from American Heart Association , Greater South east affiliate (2012-2014). After successful completion of his Doctoral dissertation in my lab in 2014 , he has completed postcoctoral training joined the renowned Vascular Biologist, Dr. Charles Searle at Dept. of Medicine, Cardiology section, Emory University.
